The Forensic Genomics Consortium Netherlands

Founded in 2008, the Forensic Genomics Consortium Netherlands is a strategic alliance of three Dutch forensic genetic research laboratories:

Existing forensic genetic research methods have two weak spots: they are relatively slow and they are inefficient as to the amount of information that can be extracted from biological crime scene samples.
To increase the crime-solving rate, the consortium develops new forensic genetic research techniques
for both dedicated and more routine high-volume crime cases.

New research techniques can significantly help the criminal justice system. They will make it possible to extract more evidence from crime scene traces as well as extract new types of information from these traces. This will enhance the value of forensic genetic analysis for investigative and intelligence purposes.
